7 great international pubs in Vienna to visit
Whether you are visiting Vienna for a few days or you are an expat based in Vienna, when you’re looking for a familiar taste of beer and English speaking company, Vienna has quite a few great international pubs to choose from. While you will meet heaps of Austrians and tourists from all over the world, staff will most likely be native speakers and popular events like pub quizzes and live sports are common options for an evening’s entertainment.
#1 Crossfield – Maysedergasse 5, 1010 Vienna
This Australian themed pub, situated in the heart of Vienna’s inner city, has been around for quite a while and caters to an international crowd with a wide selection of beers and Australian dishes to choose from. If you’re looking for someone to hand you a Vegemite sandwich, this place probably is your best bet in Vienna. All sorts of sporting events are shown throughout the week and can be viewed on TV sets throughout the bar. www.crossfield.at

#4 Chelsea – Lerchenfeldergürtel U-Bahnbögen 29-32, 1080 Vienna
Perhaps Vienna’s most popular location for watching Champion’s League and Premier League matches, this pub located right below the U6 subway (which goes above ground for quite a bit on its way), is a great location if you are into Indie Rock and enjoy an alternative crowd. With live concerts, theme parties and sporting events, there’s enough to do to stick around several days during a week. It’s definitely a good place to meet people and have a few cold ones, but you better stop for food on the way there if you’re hungry. www.chelsea.co.at
