Hi Folks
Mentioned it before but someone recently asked me again on PM – and so thought I’d more officially recommend a teacher who teaches in English in the 6th district (very close to Naschmarkt). I have been going for a while now and find the classes good.
It took me a while to find a good, English fluent speaking teacher here who is also local, established for many years etc. so thought I’d pass it on to anyone else who wants to focus on their health and flexibility a bit!
Being here in a foreign land (I have found) somewhat stressful sometimes so the yoga and running has been a great help, and a good teacher who is also pretty cool and relaxed, invaluable.
There are beginners, as well as intermediate/advanced classes starting next Tuesday for this semester. Times are 8pm and 5:45pm respectively. The place is called
Zentrum für Iyengar Yoga Wien
(im Institut Schmida)
Lehargasse 1/2
A-1060 WienIt’s close to Mariahilferstrasse as well. U-bahn stations are probably Volkstheater and Museumsquartier.
Turn up, enjoy and have fun !

September 30, 2011 at 5:37 pm #1983blueorangeMemberThat is good to know.
Just a few questions: Is the class run in English? And what is the name of the teacher. I guess it is Hatha? Thanks!October 1, 2011 at 8:44 am #1984WienAMemberHi blue
Yes it is run in both languages actually, although best to speak to the teacher beforehand as if there are no English only students that class, he would revert to English!
It is Iyengar, I used to like Hatha (love action!) and at first thought Iyengar very boring but after a few workouts I realised it is just much more precise and my muscles ached like crazy (ahem). So that style, well you can try it, hourses for courses… 🙂
Tuesday night and Thursday morning there are only the English-German classes so you won’t miss it.
Cheers,

Iyengar has the same asanas, but i need to keep the Flow going, as well as the special Breathing – it does wonders really… so will be looking for something – so far i found like 8 schools in vienna that offer Ashtanga specifically in various languages even. it would be great to find a meditation guru in english too.

The teacher is Roland – he is good, authentic and speaks fluently. -
