“Touch” (or “Touch Rugby” or “Ohne Kontakt Rugby” or “Touch Football” in Australia) is a non-contact, fun, simple and fast game similar to rugby but without the tackling. Therefore it attracts both men and women of all ages and skill levels. Touch is easy to learn and is great for fitness.
In Vienna we are training on Tuesday nights and playing games on Fridays and Sundays.

A number of nationalities play here in Vienna and it is also a great way of finding new friends, practicing your German and English and seeing more of Europe as we play at many different tournaments outside of Austria.

And in German it’s ‘Ohne kontakt’.It’s called that because the players do touch one another, it’s a crucial part of the game. It’s like being touched in a playground game of tag. “Non-contact” just means that there is no hard physical contact like tackling.

You’re right, a touch is not a contact for the purposes of this game. “Contact” would mean something like a rugby tackle or a football tackle.
And there is no contradiction between the German and English names because the one is not a translation of the other. The German name refers to the fact that there is no full contact such as a tackle. The English name refers to the fact that the players touch each other like in a game of tag. They are referring to different things.

Thanks, but I know what touch and contact mean. You obviously don’t play a lot of sport, do you? If you did, you would know that “contact sport” is a common term for sports like football, rugby and American football where there is full contact between the players like a tackle. A touch like in a game of tag is not a full contact. Therefore touch rugby is a non-contact sport. QED.
don’t get personal, we are discussing a linquistic issue here, not ourselves. so let’s stay on the subject, shall we? also your logic is very flawed. If I played sports, it would not have necessitated that I understood the etymology of the words. lol. i enjoy this!
so i found it on the website and the correct way to say it in Geman is ‘kontaktarm’ – meaning ‘with a little contact’ so to say. They actually call it ‘Touch’ as well.

Well, that’s the German website, different one from the Austrian website the OP linked to. I wouldn’t say either of them is necessarily “correct”, it’s just different ways of describing the same thing. Again, there is no contradiction between “kontaktarm” and “Ohne Kontakt”. The first means that there is only light contact, the second means that there is no full contact. They both refer to the same thing.
