Wondering if anyone has recommendations for places my kids can do sports. I have two boys- age 8 and 10. They are in an Austrian public school which doesn’t seem to offer anything in the way of sports teams. We”re doing swimming and gymnastics but would love something more team oriented. We’re in the 18th district. Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks.
If they are into football then I can recommend SUSA an English-speaking football club for kids. Their website (http://www.susasoccer.at) seems to be down at the moment but you can contact them on susasoccer@aol.com or 0676 697 0233.
You might try Shaolin Kung Fu at the Shaolin Tempel Austria Training in Liesing. http://www.shaolintempel.at
No contact traditional Shaolin Kung Fu
There is American Flag Football offered by the Vikiddy program (it is run by Michael Holub, the announcer at the Vienna Vikings games) and they have teams in several district of Vienna. (They also offer cheerleading and dance programs.)
The emphasis is on learning skills and having fun.
My child has participated in this program for several years and we are very happy with it. I don’t know all coaches but I know Mr. Holub and he does speak English. When my child first started he did not know that my child speaks German and he had offered to speak in English to my child, should it have been necessary.
