Hi!
I am in the process on moving out of Vienna, back to the United States and I am a little confused of what I have to do legally to move. I understand that I have to go to my district office to deregister the meldezettel (correct?). Do I also have to do anything regarding my student residency permit-do I have to deregister that too? Any information regarding leaving the country would be very helpful!
Thanks
From what I can gather about your student VISA you should have your transcripts and confirmation of attendance with you when you deregister at the Meldeamt. You can get this from your school the last 2 weeks before departure.
Hi!
Thanks for the response. So you’re saying that when I go to the Meldeamt to deregister for the Meldezettel, I can also deregister with my student residency (and that I don’t have to make a separate trip to the MA office?). Getting my proof of enrollment shouldn’t be a problem but my transcript won’t be complete, as it won’t have the grades of the current term. I graduate on a Saturday and then I leave the following Monday. Do you think this will be a problem?
Thanks!
All the schools I looked at said they can give you your confirmation and transcript documents the last 2 weeks before your leave. The MA doesn’t need your diploma, just proof that you have been in school during your Visa… if even that I doubt they care. Go to your school’s office and ask them.
I will try that. Thanks!
