Hi there,
I had tried several fitness studios before I joined the recent one 2 years ago. Being critical and economical at the same time has never been easy :tic:
Long time ago I was invited by a friend to the club Danube but to be honest, I didn’t like the atmosphere and the machines (they may have newer, modern ones nowadays though)
I tried Manhattan Fitness Centre for a month at 200 Euro and quite liked the atmosphere and the facilities (it has a swimming pool too) BUT not the price, especially the registration fee and the location. I live in the second district and this place is located in the 19th.
I had a day trial in the women’s gym inside the Ring Gallery. I liked it there though of course the place is much smaller than that of Manhattan.
The fee was reasonable enough though. The problem was that my husband, who at first had been reluctant to go to the gym but then relented after seeing how enthusiastic I was about the whole fitness thing, couldn’t join this women’s club.
I went to eurogym too in the 3rd district, and to the smallish fitness centre in the Hilton Hotel at the Danube which also belongs to eurogym.
I liked the location but for some reasons I didn’t feel like ‘at home’ as in Manhattan. Besides the Hilton hotel didn’t have any fitness trainers. So I quitted.
I won a day pass from wien.at at Oberlaa. My, it was a long trip from the 2nd district to this place in 1100 Vienna. I had known before I even entered the place, I wouldn’t join in due to the location and some of its members who didn’t seem to care to use the workout towels. Besides I always had to insert the card if I wanted to enter another section.
Then I got a week trial from Injoy in the 3rd district, near the U Bahn station Schlachthausgasse (U3) and found the place just ‘right’. It is not too big nor too small, the trainers are very accommodating, some of the trainers speak English. There is no swimming pool here, but it is fine by me. I am not much of a swimmer, but rather a sauna / steam bath goer. They have a good selection of work out programs from Zumba, Iron Man, Thai Boxing to Pilates, Yoga, etc which are quite fun. All the fitness equipment is modern, e.g. the circle; the programed card adjusts the machines to your personal settings. They also offer a free baby sitting on certain days/hours. Other facilities such as solarium, infra red cabin and services for beauty treatment at a beauty parlor are also available for an additional fee.
I talked to one of the trainers today to ask if they had a day free pass for people to try out their gym. Yes in fact they did. Not a day, but a 5 day trial free of charge which is actually worth 100 Euro since 1 day pass usually costs 20 Euro (the average amount the fitness centers usually charge). You can use the pass up to 5 times from July till September 2012
So if you want to give a try, just give them a call,Tel: (01) 799 03 90 and please refer this article from
‘Virtual Vienna’
to get the free voucher.
If you want to know more about Injoy, you can visit their homepage in German: http://www.injoy-wien.at/de/zeiten.htm
If you don’t speak German, it is better to call the gym personally during their opening hours (Mo-Fr: 07:00am-10:00pm, Sat/Sun/ Holidays:09:00 am-08:00pm)I hope this info is useful.
Have a healthy fun day!
